An expecting mother goes through an amazing journey as she completed the three trimesters of pregnancy.  Each trimester is characterized by distinct changes in a woman's body and for some women, emotional changes as well.  It is important that you understand these trimesters of pregnancy to know what to expect month after month so you will be prepared.  Let's discuss the different trimesters of pregnancy to gain a better understanding of these changes.

On the first trimester or the first three months of pregnancy, your baby starts to grow.  After the first month, your baby is just half an inch long but his head, eyes, mouth, arms and legs are slowly growing. Your baby is still very tiny hence it will not even show.  By the second month, your baby's organs are now formed; he now has grown to an inch and weigh about an ounce.   It is also on the second month that morning sickness becomes common.  By now, you should be seeing your doctor regularly.  By the third month, your baby's heartbeat can now be heard.  Your baby now has tiny fingers and toes, and is about four inches in length and heavier than an ounce.

Trimesters Of Pregnancy

Perhaps the most exciting among all the trimesters of pregnancy is the second.  By the fourth month, your baby will start to move inside your belly because he is now bigger at 7 inches long and heavier at 5 ounces in weight.  Morning sickness would usually have subsided at this point to be replaced by food cravings so expect to gain weight.  On the fifth month, you will have your first ultrasound and for the first time, you can see an image of your baby and see if he is a boy or a girl!  On the sixth month, your baby is now 12 inches long and weighs more than a pound.  He would certainly move about more so you can expect to feel his kicks so you can expect back pains to start.

By the third trimester, on the seventh month, expect more action and growth for your baby.  You will commonly experience swollen hands and feet as well.  On the eight month, your baby would have grown to 16 inches long and 4 pounds at least which can be a cause of discomfort for you.   You may feel fatigued easily and may find it difficult to sleep.  The ninth month is the most awaited as your baby is almost ready to come out into the world.  All you need to prepare yourself for is the labor prior to delivery!

Trimesters Of Pregnancy

For most married women they are very much aware if their monthly period stops, but then there are some that they have irregular menstrual period that is why they will not notice that they are pregnant. There three stages of pregnancy. As they enter the first stage of their pregnancy which is counted form the last day of their menstruation up to 12 weeks of pregnancy. They will notice unusual changes in their body such as fullness of breast, their abdomen starts to expand to able to have a room for the growth of the baby and most worst thing they experience severe nausea. The first trimesters of pregnancy is the most crucial part that most women advise to take extra careful because they might loss the little life growing life inside their womb. At first they might loss their appetite but eventually they will be craving of foods that is said to be a normal signs that most pregnant women experience, they will also suffer from morning sickness.

Trimesters Of Pregnancy

Starting from13 weeks until 27 weeks is the second trimesters of pregnancy. During those weeks the baby start to develop faster, the formation of bones is also started to develop and during the last weeks of second trimester the baby would be able to hear things outside. They can visit their OB gynecologist for monthly regular check up so that the doctor can monitor development of the baby. They can also read books regarding the stages of pregnancy to know the changes and development of the baby as they grow on their womb. During the second trimester of pregnancy you detect the sex of their baby through ultrasound and they can also feel the movement of the baby. At this stage the mother can now relieve from morning sickness, but they can experience the sluggish and tired feeling all the time.

The last stage of pregnancy starting from end of 28 weeks until 40 weeks but, it is possible the some women gave birth later than 40 weeks. It is the stage where the mother feels secure because the third trimester of pregnancy the baby has higher survival rate. It is essential to be emotionally prepared during the arrival of your baby. Some of them are not yet prepared whereas some are too much excited. However, as they gave birth and finally see the baby their world has totally changed. All the pains during their labor were totally gone, because the baby is the fulfillment of their dreams to be called as mother.
